Dandy Rick refuses to take Dark Matter Ball

I've crafted the dark matter ball and every time offered, I get rejected. And no, it's not a dark energy ball! I hate seeing him wander with the question mark and leaving it unfinished.

What on earth (or... any dimension) do I do? Is this a glitch?

Which quest are you trying to complete? There are several Dandy Rick quests that require different items.

I believe you give Dandy Rick a Dark Matter Ball, not a dark energy ball.
To make one its a dark energy ball + turbulent juice.
